Yes, there is certainly 'Joy in Giving', and i had my share of it. As a part of my company's community relations team, we organized fund raising campaigns in our office, which were quite innovative and generated tremendous response.
We have regular Friday gatherings on project basis, where employees gather, eat and share jokes and news. One of the ideas for Joy of Giving (JOG) was to ask projects to skip one such gathering and donate the money to JOG.
Another very successful idea asked people to send roses to each other with a thank u msg, or one sayin sorry, or one hoping for better times ahead, etc. The idea was to make people feel special and in the process raise funds also, and was greeted with tremendous response. The happy reaction on people's face when we delivered them roses and wished them 'Happy Joy of Giving' was worth the effort.
All in all this JOG was quite a success in our company, and m happy, rather contended that i was a part of this initiative.
