Plagiarism

"Wrongfull appropriation and publication as one's own of ideas and expressions of ideas of others. Over the past 10 days, Kaavya, a Harvard sophomore has become the world's iconic plagiarist. Her life has taken a U-turn, from signing a mega publishing deal at the age of 17 to a writer in disgrace..its time..,Kaavya can no more escape the accountability for her actions and has to pay for her 'intellectual dishonesty'.".........Is it so??
.....this is a summary of an article published in the Hindu dated 04-May-2006 and i couldnt help wondering y ws such an issue being made. Its nt that iam saying that wht Kaavya has done s right but does she deserve to be disgraced like this??Why has writing been turned ihto a money spinning affair, y hav we put copyrights on thoughts , ideas, expressions.wht do we write 4..to make quick bucks..??when we write, dont we expect to be read, dont we expect to influence people's lives in one way or the other??Then y do we make such a hue and cry when one of them got impressed and made it a part of her thinking..Kaavya's s nt the only case..Take the case of hue and cry over Dan Brown's work.......people suing one another for claiming money..is that wht they wrote for, is that y we write??
Yeah its true that we got to acknowlege others for wht they hav done, they deserve their share of credit, but humans they mistakes..dont they?? is it the way they shud b treated??Dont they deserve a second chance?

It is the media stunt!! A simple way of publicity for themselves (the media) in the blind race for power n money ... at the cost of embarassment n loss for a lot of us - the ordinary human.
Hmm that is right, they can even expel us from universities here for a minute act of plagiarism. With no chance of getting into another one! The price one has to pay for being inspired from something!!!
